Our teaching methods

Child-friendly, pedagogically sound and without pressure
Why we do what we do how we do it
Why we teach the way we teach
At the Otter swimming school, the child is the focus. Our goal is for children to move safely, without fear, and with joy in the water – not just for them to learn to swim as quickly as possible.
Water familiarization first
Before learning swimming techniques, we build trust in the water. Through playful exercises like blowing, diving, gliding, and floating, children feel safe. This is the foundation for sustainable learning.
Gliding before swimming
Good body position in the water makes every swimming technique easier. Children who can let the water support them move more relaxed and safely.
Joy of movement before technology
We initially promote general movement in the water. Our technique arises from experience, not from pressure.
Take fears seriously
Fear of diving, of deep water, or of jumping into a pool is completely normal. We take these feelings seriously.
We do not exert any pressure, but accompany the children with patience, calmness and small successes.
Because fear blocks learning processes, while trust and time enable them.
Badges serve as a guide, not as a requirement
Swimming badges such as seahorse or bronze can be motivating, but for us they are not a measure of learning success within a fixed time.
It is important to us that the basics are really solid before a child moves on to the next course level.
Our guiding principlee
The safety of children is our top priority. Water is a wonderful element, but it can also quickly push children to their limits. Therefore, in our courses we teach not only swimming techniques, but also important skills such as orientation in the water, endurance, how to react appropriately when unsure, and basic self-protection.
Our goal is to help children become safe, independent, and joyful swimmers. We achieve this step by step, with patience and a holistic view of each individual child.
